Spindletop Refuge is committed to the successful rehabilitation and placement of abandoned, abused, stray and shelter euthanasia bound dogs. They specialize in power breeds such as the American Pit Bull and Staffordshire Terriers because so many of them are not given a second chance at other shelters. Their philosophy is that these dogs should be properly evaluated for their companion qualities and placed only in responsible adoptive home under specific care contracts. They support early spay and neuter and have a "no kill" policy for human-friendly dogs and those with other trainable dispositions.
They focus on adopting out healthy, altered, stable animals.
A PORTION OF THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO ALL BREEDS OF DOGS IN ORDER TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS KILLED IN SHELTERS & GIVEN UP BY THEIR GUARDIANS.
IN 1999 OVER 6 million DOGS & CATS WERE KILLED BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH GOOD HOMES FOR THEM & BECAUSE OF IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDERS & PET GUARDIANS.

PITGIRLS IS A GROUP THAT WAS CREATED TO SUPPORT THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER AND OTHER 'BULLY' BREEDS'
OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE BREED AND TO SUPPORT GROUPS WHO RESCUE THEM. WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH SPINDLETOP REFUGE IN HOUSTON TEXAS & WE DONATE THE PROCEEDS FROM OUR MERCHANDISE & FUNDRAISERS TO THEM. OUR VOLUNTEERS ALSO DONATE THEIR TIME TO HELP NEEDY DOGS IN THE COMMUNITY.
We do not usually rescue dogs but we can help you with info on the breed, vet referal, trainer referal & any other questions you may have about raising a pit bull.
